2016 Architecture Month

Free & Low-Cost Events - Open to All in April!

AIA Honolulu is celebrating its 10th Annual Architecture Month with several free and low-cost activities being planned for the public during the month of April.  We started these annual events to highlight the power of good design in making our communities better places to live, work and play and also generate a discussion of design in Hawaii.  We hope by elevating awareness of architecture, you will be inspired by your surroundings on a daily basis.

Hundreds of island residents and visitors enjoy these architecture and design-related events each April. Make sure you are one of them in April 2016. View images from our 2015 walking tour, firm crawl and film night!

AIA member-architects first ventured into Waikiki in celebration of Architecture Month in 2013; due to overwhelming demand, Waikiki will be our site again in 2016 – but with an all-new tour.

Over the course of two hours, walkers will learn about architecturally significant historic buildings and areas in Waikiki – a world-famous locale that we are all familiar with, but that too few of us appreciate as a center of historic architecture.  The tour covers a distance of over one mile. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen and hats are highly recommended; walkers are encouraged to bring water and snacks to keep their energy up!
Cost: Tours are $15/person. Tour times are set by advanced reservation and online pre-payment.
