Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA): DCCA services include the licensing of Hawaii's professionals including architects, engineers, landscape architects, and others. Their Online Services allow commerce and consumers to look up information about businesses, licensed and individuals registered with the DCCA. They also handle consumer complaints against Hawaii Businesses and licensed professionals.
Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP): DPP is responsible for issuing land use permits and building permits, in addition to maintaining and updating the State's Master Plans for development. Their web resources include various links to download permit applications and forms and answers to questions about when permits for construction and building are required.
Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT): DBEDT's web site includes links to their many divisions, including the Energy Branch, part of their Strategic Industries Division. Here you can find information on Hawaii's energy sources, ways to promote sustainable energy resources and strategies to improve energy efficiency in our government, commercial and residential buildings and facilities.
U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC): The USGBC is one good source for information on "Green Buildings" including information on LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). This Green Building Rating System® (LEED) is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. American Society of Interior Designers Hawaii Chapter: The ASID is a professional association for interior designers. Click here to be directed to the ASID Hawaii Chapter web site.
Hawaii Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects: Click here to be directed to the ASLA Hawaii Chapter web site. ASLA's purpose is the advancement of knowledge, education, and skill in the art and science of landscape architecture as an instrument of service for the public welfare.

The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB): This is the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. Professional degree programs in architecture. Their site contains among other items a listing of NAAB accredited programs in architecture. Click here to access the NAAB web site.
The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) also offers resources for persons interested in a career in architecture. Click here to visit the NCARB web site and visit their consumer section to learn more about pathways to architecture and links to other architectural organizations.
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is the official voice of students to the educational system and the profession of architecture and design. Click here to learn more about the AIAS whose national offices are co-located in Washington DC in the headquarters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Links include inforation on local AIAS Chapters, membership and student resources including questions to ask in choosing an Architecture School and links to online resources about careers in architecture.
