This workshop is designed to improve the skills and knowledge base of design, rehabilitation, and forensics professionals (consultants, architects, and engineers), developers, contractors, and building system manufacturers.  We welcome university and college level students to gain insights, industry exposure, and network with professionals.  The educational sessions will focus on building enclosure quality assurance and quality control by addressing aspects of manufacturing of products/systems, specification, installation, and building maintenance including investigation and repair.  The program comprises of ten, 75-minute presentations, an exhibitor zone, and network reception. Dec 7: AIA-GCA Meeting "The Construction Process: Evolution of the Documents…Including the Construction BIM Model" (1 LU)

3-Part AIA-GCA Series: Our third and final session will focus on how the Construction Documents form the basis of the construction and describe how the drawings evolve through the construction phase through the RFI, ASI, PCD, and CO processes.  This qualifies for 1 AIA/CES LU.

When/Where: Thursday, Dec. 7, 11:30am-1pm, Center for Architecture. Brown bag session.

Join us to better understand how Contractors are using BIM for their virtual construction models, the technologies being utilized to track & document changes in both the field and office, and the post-construction model being offered to the Owners for management of their new facilities.

Apply for 2018-2019 Architects Foundation Scholarships

The Center for Architecture in New York is now accepting applications for the Arnold W. Brunner grant until February 1, 2018. The Arnold W. Brunner grant is designed for mid-level architects to pursue architectural investigations that will effectively contribute to the knowledge, teaching, or practice of the art and science of architecture. The project must engage in contemporary architectural issues within a local and global context. The sole recipient will be awarded up to $15,000. Learn More >

The Architects Foundation scholarship application period for 2018-2019 is now open. From now through January 17 students may apply for the Diversity Advancement Scholarship and Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Academic Scholarship. Dec 8: UHSAAA Hosting 3rd Annual Holiday Social "Cheers to the Year"

Register Online! UHSAAA is hosting its 3rd Annual Holiday Social "Cheers to the Year" Dec. 8, 6pm-8pm at the Center for Architecture. Attend a pau hana gathering where alumni, professionals and students can mingle, reminisce and kick off the holiday season.


This will be a one-night opportunity for alumni and soon-to-graduate DArch students of the UH School of Architecture. Students will be displaying brief descriptions of their two years of research.


Tickets: $10.00 for General Admission and $20.00 for Sponsors (incl. pupus and two drink tickets). It will be Aloha Friday, so Casual Business attire is encouraged.

Community Volunteer Opportunity

Signups for Kahauiki Village volunteer days on Sat Dec 9 and Dec 16

Kahauiki Village will be having volunteer days on Saturday Dec. 9 and Saturday Dec. 16 to complete interior painting and cleaning in preparation for families to start moving into the units in January. The minimum volunteer age is 14; Friends and family members are welcome!

Time: 8:45am – 12:00pm (briefing at 9:00am)
Where:  Kahauiki Village 2475 North Nimitz Highway HI 96819
Sign Up: Sign up online. Provide your email and select your men’s t-shirt size from the drop down

Additional instructions:  Kahauiki Village can only be accessed from Nimitz Highway driving in the Diamond Head direction. All volunteers must wear covered shoes. Shorts are ok, but be prepared for paint splatters. Bring your own drinking water. Painting supplies will be provided.  The site has portable restrooms.
