Get Involved with AIA Honolulu in 2018

What Are Your Interests? Lots of Great Active AIA Honolulu Committees to Join

Make the most of your AIA membership by being an active Chapter member! The Committees and Task Forces of AIA Honolulu are the foundations from which the chapter positions itself in the field of architecture, whether through discussion, advocacy, policy making and development, event and exhibition planning, or other endeavors. The Committees initiate the majority of programs held at the Center for Architecture, and are the main avenue for direct involvement with the Chapter.

There are many ways to get involved with AIA Honolulu. View Committee Sign Up Form for brief descriptions of our Committees. Check off any that may be of interest to you or that you’d like to learn more about, email us the form and we will contact you for further information.

Congratulations to our Newest Fellow!

AIA Elevates James A. Nicolow to the College of Fellows

AIA Fellowship Recognizes Significant Contributions to the Profession of Architecture and Society

We are pleased to announce that the Jury of Fellows of the AIA elevated James (Jim) A. Nicolow to its prestigious College of Fellows, an honor awarded to members who have made significant contributions to the profession.

Jim works for Lord Aeck Sargent and belonged to AIA Southwest Michigan during his application but is now part of AIA Honolulu.  He has committed his career to transforming the built environment through leadership and collaboration on significant deep green projects; sustainability education and advocacy, and leadership and mentorship serving as LAS’s first Director of Sustainability.  Please extend your congratulations to your peer on his outstanding achievement.  He will be honored at the 2018 National AIA Convention in New York June 21-23.

The Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society, and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Out of a total AIA membership of over 90,000, approximately 4 percent are distinguished with the honor of fellowship and honorary fellowship.  View full list of AIA National College of Fellows.
