Friday, Apr 6: Hawaii Pacific Radio Pledge Drive, 8am-10am
AIA Honolulu is helping the Hawaii Public Radio with their spring phone-a-thon (pledge drive) for the 10th year.
Listen, Call and Donate during the AIA Honolulu Shift on FM 88.1 or 89.3.

Friday, Apr 6: Architectural Firm Crawl in Downtown Honolulu, 5pm-8pm
On this one evening, numerous Honolulu architecture companies will open their doors to the public, inviting the community in to learn more about the projects that the firms are engaged in and the architects behind those designs. Register online and get the a map of participating firms and visit in any order.

Saturday, Apr 7: Architectural Photography Workshop, David Franzen, 8am-4pm Attend a special photography workshop created especially for AIA Honolulu during Architecture Month. Join this renowned architectural photographer and learn how to Capture a ‘Sense of Place’ – strategies & techniques towards effective and artful digital photography which convey the spirit of a place!

    No RSVP! The Hawaii Island Section of AIA Honolulu invites the public to join in free film presentations.
    Kona: Friday, April 13 at 6pm at the Donkey Mill Art Center
    Waimea: Thursday, April 19 at W.M. Keck Observatory Headquarters
  • April 21: Young Architects Workshop,10am-2pm
    This workshop is co-presented with the Donkey Mill Art Center (DMAC) for students grade 6-12. Cardboarditecture (Cardboard + Architecture). Cost is $10 per participant, maximum 15 students.

AIA Committee Meetings

AIA Honolulu committee meetings are open to all active AIA Honolulu members.

Apr 5: Housing Committee Meeting, 12pm-1pm

Register for Thursday, April 5, 12pm-1pm! The AIA Honolulu Housing Committee was created to promote the development of safe, attractive, accessible, and affordable housing. It will provide leadership, advocacy, and education to the profession and the public in matters related to housing design.

Apr 9: Land Use Ordinance Task Force Meeting

Register for Monday, April 9, 12pm-1pm!  We invite all interested members to engage in the unique opportunity to take a look at Honolulu’s current zoning code and give feedback to the city for their upcoming revisions to the land use ordinance LUO. Qualifies for 1 AIA/CES LU.

Apr 12: EASLA Meeting Redesigning Certificate of Licensure

Register for Thursday, April 12, 12pm-1pm!  The joint task force will work on recreating the certificate of Licensure wall certificates. Volunteers will contribute time, talent and personal resources to establish a new design and production criteria for the Hawaii license wall certificate.

AIA Honolulu is the registered provider for this Statewide Code Training.

Get a head start by acquiring knowledge of the new code ahead of anticipated adoption by the counties.  Since the last update 12 years ago, many technological and code improvements have been made. Learn about the new code from national code authority, Erik Kolderup, P.E. and Howard Wiig of the State Energy Office and State Building Code Council, who has been instrumental in the development and passage of the Hawai‘i amendments.

Public sector should register for AM session and Private sector register for PM session.
