AIA Honolulu Past Event Update

August General Membership Meeting: Talk Story with the Mayor

AIA Honolulu members were honored to have Mayor Kirk Caldwell as our guest speaker at the August General Membership Meeting at the Center for Architecture.

Moderator, Howard Dicus from HPR and Hawaii News Now, kept the conversation moving in a lighthearted way as topics such as parks, complete streets, Biki, affordable housing, ADUs and sewer capacity were discussed.

While the Mayor described areas of progress and future plans, he acknowledged speedbumps along the way, particularly with the rail.  But he remains passionate and committed to our City in making it a safe, livable place that many may benefit from. View all images on Facebook.

Sep. 20-22: 2017 Hawaii Congress of Planning Officials Conference

Register Online! The City & County of Honolulu Department of Planning & Permitting invites you to the 2017 Hawaii Congress of Planning Officials Conference, September 20 – 22, 2017 at the Alohilani Resort Waikiki.

Hawaii is home to the most isolated metropolis in the world, Honolulu, and, just like any other community, we depend on our neighbors, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii for social, economic, and cultural support. Isolation, and the conditions associated with it, breeds a unique set of circumstances across our island chain. Public, private, nonprofit, activist, neighbor island and volunteer groups must continue to work together. Developing stronger partnerships with our neighbors is paramount to the success of the Hawaiian Islands.
