When you join the AIA you will become a member of both AIA National and your local State and Chapter chapters. If you reside on Oahu, Kauai or Hawaii you will be assigned to AIA Honolulu and the AIA Hawaii State Council.

AIA Honolulu members are placed in an online database. Potential clients use the AIA Architect Finder or AIA Firm Finder to search for architects within areas of specialization, (e.g., residential design, sustainable design.

Member firms have the opportunity to submit projects in the chapter’s annual Design Awards competition. The program culminates in a Gala Awards Presentation–the Chapter’s most prestigious event. The AIA Honolulu’s Annual Design Awards is Hawaii’s oldest program of its type—held annually since 1958.
The AIA and its members have developed a legislative agenda that calls on Congress and the Administration to pursue policies that will stimulate work for architects. When Congress proposed a tax increase on individuals and small businesses that form S Corporations, thousands of AIA members, speaking in a collective voice, succeeded in tabling the proposal in Senate.
