Architecture Schools

Do you want to be an Architect? AIA and AIAS has developed a website called which will lead you through the steps in becoming an architect. The "Three Es" of architecture will be your guide and they are: Education, Experience and Examination. Whether you are a high school student, a parent, a university student or an intern, these are the three core principles of the architecture profession. You must satisfy all three parts to call yourself an "Architect."

Careers in Architecture Toolkit: The AIA Diversity Council has developed a Careers in Architecture Toolkit geared towards students; parents, teachers, and guidance counselors; AIA chapters; firms/partners; and community groups. This online toolkit is a compilation of architecture resources from all over the web, gathered in one place, as a one-stop shop for all things architecture.

Picking a School

ln the United States you should pursue a degree from an architecture program which is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) in order to meet the educational qualifications necessary to take the Architectural Registration Exam or "ARE."

More than 100 architecture programs are accredited by NAAB in the United States who accredits professional programs in architecture leading to the Doctor of Architecture, Master of Architecture or Bachelor of Architecture degree. The NAAB is the sole agency authorized to accredit U.S. degree programs in architecture.

The University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Architecture

The University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Architecture is providing the opportunity for a student to earn an accredited degree in the field of architecture and is the only U.S. school of architecture in the middle of the Pacific region.

Their Doctor of Architecture degree program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

A Doctor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degree programs may consist of a pre-professional undergraduate degree and a professional graduate degree that, when earned sequentially, constitute an accredited professional education. However, the pre-professional degree is not, by itself, recognized as an accredited degree.
