This committee aims to present films related to design, architecture, and the built environment on a quarterly basis on Oahu, and quarterly on the Island of Hawaii. In addition to 1-3 films shown throughout the year, AIA Architecture Month in April includes a Film Night. Films are typically followed by thought-provoking panel discussions with selected community members. The intent of these events is to raise public awareness of the value of architects, and give chapter members a forum to discuss design related issues.
Film Committee Goals
Reaching out to firms, vendors or other organizations to sponsor the Film Night to help offset costs, which engages the sponsors with the AIA and CFA
Select and preview the film, prepare for the event and determine panelists, ticketing, refreshments, recruitment of sponsors and staffing.
Produce a poster design for each film created by committee members as an ongoing series
Membership in the Film Committee is open to all AIA Honolulu members.
