  • Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA):

    The DCCA services include the licensing of Hawaii's professionals including architects, engineers, landscape architects, and others. At their website you can look up information about businesses, licensed and individuals registered with the DCCA.

    In the Process of Selecting a Person or Company to Hire? The DCCA offers a number of online resources for you to use as part of your check of companies, individuals or licensed professionals that you intend to hire or do business with. You can also reach them by phone at (808) 587-4272.

    Got a Complaint? Search of the State of Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) for any complaint history and contact the State of Hawaii’s Regulated Industries Complaints Office (“RICO”). You can also reach them by phone at 587-4272.

  • Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP):

    The DPP is responsible for issuing land use permits and building permits, in addition to maintaining and updating the State's Master Plans for development.

  • Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT):

    The DBEDT's web site includes links to their many divisions, including the Energy Branch, part of their Strategic Industries Division. Here you can find information on Hawaii's energy sources, ways to promote sustainable energy resources and strategies to improve energy efficiency in our government, commercial and residential buildings and facilities.

  • U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC):

    The USGBC is one good source for information on "Green Buildings" including information on LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). This Green Building Rating System® (LEED) is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.     The HAF is a non-profit organization that connects people to the profound influence of design and stimulates education and public engagement in shaping our island communities.

  • American Society of Interior Designers Hawaii Chapter (ASID):

    The ASID Hawaii Chapter is a professional association for interior designers.

  • Hawaii Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA):

    The ASLA Hawaii Chapter's purpose is the advancement of knowledge, education, and skill in the art and science of landscape architecture as an instrument of service for the public welfare.
