Description
Organization & Position Overview
The Liljestrand Foundation was established in 2007 to preserve and share Liljestrand House, a defining work of Hawaiʻi architect Vladimir Ossipoff, and foster dialogue on imaginative design. Listed on the Hawaiʻi and National Registers of Historic Places, Liljestrand House is an outstanding example of mid-twentieth-century modern architecture. The Foundation is entering an important phase of growth, focused on expanding its impact, strengthening community engagement, and reimagining how a historic site can serve as a vibrant platform for design, dialogue, and cultural exchange.
The Operations & Visitor Experience Manager is a key, hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day operations, visitor experience, and public-facing activities of Liljestrand House. The Manager oversees tours, hospitality, volunteers, events, site readiness, and general upkeep and maintenance, while supporting communications, audience development, and earned-revenue opportunities including tours, retail, and rentals. Working closely with the Executive Director, this position requires a highly organized, resourceful, and hospitality-minded professional who can exercise sound judgment, manage multiple priorities, and take initiative in a dynamic historic house environment. As the primary on-site operational lead, the Manager will help ensure an exceptional experience for visitors and partners while strengthening the systems and capacity needed for the Foundation’s continued growth.
