Client relationships aren't built only by principals and senior leaders. Every interaction with a client is an opportunity for emerging architects to demonstrate professionalism, build confidence, and show that they are ready to take on greater responsibility.

In this interactive panel discussion, Riki Fujitani, Executive Director of the Hawai‘i School Facilities Authority, and Tracy Tonaki, President of D.R. Horton Hawaii, will share the client's perspective on what they notice—and value—in the junior- and mid-level professionals who work with them.

Moderated by Chris Hong, AIA, the conversation will explore how emerging architects can become more effective participants in client meetings, ask thoughtful questions, communicate with confidence, and represent their firms well. Panelists will discuss the behaviors that build credibility, common mistakes that can undermine client confidence, and what makes a client begin to see a younger team member as someone whose ideas and judgment they value.

Participants will leave with practical insights into how they can become more confident and effective in client-facing situations and begin building meaningful professional relationships early in their careers.
