The AIA-ACECH-GCA Committee invites you to An Evening with Wendy F. Hensel, where the University of Hawaii’s new president will share insights on her leadership journey, vision for the future, and priorities for the UH system. From campus improvements and long-term planning to broader challenges and opportunities in higher education, President Hensel will offer her perspective on what lies ahead.
The Office of the Vice President for Budget and Finance and Chief Financial Officer will also speak to UH’s P3 initiatives.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear directly from UH’s top leader and engage in a conversation about the University’s direction, impact, and partnership with the broader community.

Wendy F. Hensel became president of the University of Hawaiʻi System and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa on January 1, 2025. She leads Hawaiʻi’s sole public higher education system, overseeing 10 campuses, 49,000 students, and nearly 7,500 faculty and staff. A champion of equity and innovation, she is committed to academic excellence and advancing UH as a Native Hawaiian Place of Learning.
Previously, Hensel served as Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost at The City University of New York, where she led initiatives to improve student success, expand virtual degree programs, and align academics with workforce needs. She also held key leadership roles at Georgia State University, including Provost and Dean of the College of Law, and played a pivotal role in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic.
A legal scholar in disability law and ethics, Hensel has published extensively and advocates for inclusive education and employment. Before academia, she practiced law and served as a federal judicial clerk. She holds degrees from Michigan State University and Harvard Law School and was named a Fellow of the American Bar Association in 2019.
