Join AIA Honolulu’s Emerging Professionals Committee for the next installment of Lineage, a mentorship series connecting emerging professionals with Fellows and seasoned leaders in Hawaiʻi’s architecture community.
This session features Robert Iopa, FAIA, Chairman of WCIT Architecture, for an intimate and informal conversation about his journey through the profession, lessons learned along the way, and the experiences that have shaped his approach to architecture and leadership.
About Robert:
Throughout his career, Robert and WCIT have explored how architecture can respond meaningfully to Hawaiʻi’s unique sense of place, culture, history, and community. That philosophy has extended beyond buildings into storytelling and education, including ʻAʻama Nui, an award-winning children’s book that explores how history, culture, and place can inspire design.
Centered around the recurring Lineage theme, “Things I Wish I Knew Earlier in My Career,” the conversation will explore Robert’s path from emerging professional to firm leader, while opening the door to broader discussions about designing for Hawaiʻi, building a meaningful career, leading a practice, and finding ways to communicate the value of design beyond architecture itself.
